No, I’m not pregnant! I originally wrote this for The Bamboo Baby Company but wanted to share as these were five of must-haves I particularly found useful during my pregnancy!
Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in everything we need for our baby’s arrival that we forget that while we grow our tiny little bundle of joy, we need looking after too.
Pregnancy is an exciting time but it’s not always easy. The good news is that there are few must-haves out there to help you along the way to meeting your baby.
Here I have compiled a list of pregnancy essentials that you didn’t know you needed, until now…
1. HOME COMFORTS
From the early weeks of pregnancy right through your maternity leave to finally meeting your baby girl of boy, comfort is key.
Two must haves for ultimate comfort…
There are many different pillows to choose from which are created to your support your back and your growing bump but all to ultimately help give you a better night’s sleep.
Designed to support your bump, back and knees & moulds to your shape.
Award-winning Dream Belt + multi-function pregnancy pillow
The perfect loungewear & nightwear
Treat loungewear and nightwear as you would normal outfits in the sense that it’s worth investing a little bit more than you may be used to; you’ll definitely be spending a lot of time in them during your pregnancy.
2. Pregnancy journal
Memorialise your pregnancy with your very own journal and never forget the road that got you to meeting your little boy or girl.
Pregnancy journals are a super cute way to keep track of your 9 month journey to entering motherhood. Jot down your thoughts and wishes, the changes your body goes through, your cravings and much more. Despite the aches and pains you’ll endure, it will be a really special keepsake to look back on with your child.
3. Creams for your bump
As our bellies stretch to make room for the growing baby, unfortunately our skin doesn’t always adapt to the changes smoothly. Caring for your bump by keeping your skin hydrated and moisturised should become part of your skincare regime from early on in your pregnancy. There are many belly oils and creams to choose from which you should use religiously morning and night and here are just a few to choose from…
4. What to drink
For pregnant women, it’s extremely important to stay hydrated. Water in particular helps to form the placenta which is what your baby relies on to receive nutrients during pregnancy.
Aside from the water, here are other fluids that you can’t get enough of during pregnancy…
Milk and other dairy foods are good sources of calcium which is important as it helps your unborn baby’s developing bones form properly.
Fresh fruit juice which contain lots of antioxidants and are a great source of essential vitamins such a vitamin C, great for a healthy pregnancy.
Herbal & fruit teas Replacing drinks such as coffee with herbal teas will also help you to reduce how much caffeine you drink. Raspberry tea leaf is a popular choice with a lot of women during pregnancy.
5. Meet new mama’s & mama’s to be!
Pregnancy is the perfect time to start meeting new mums and mums to be. It’s normal to feel isolated and maybe even lonely during pregnancy and the early weeks with your newborn. It’s also normal to feel that you won’t or can’t meet any mama’s but that’s why mum apps are great!
There are a few different mum apps to connect you with likeminded mama’s who are local to you. Here are a couple for you to try!
